I promise a pic soon - the weather has been too inclement and I fancy an outdoor one, with the wind blowing one of my OTT scarves, as I have no hair to blow! Dash (my son) currently in house, says he'll take a pic of me soon. So Iain shaved me down to number 1 - so I have some hair - swimming is great - only takes 1 minute to dry it - also I've bought a fab new swimming cozzie - short legs like a sweet old fashioned one, but Speedo with orange spots and a highly techie back - my plan is to give the impression I cut my hair for aerodynamic reasons rather than medical. Went swimming this morning - seems to work! At least I'm convinced.
So, I survived the shave and I'm recovering from the latest lot of chemo. All is well and I had agreat day yesterday with Fiona who gave me lovely Cranio-sacral treatment and we treated ourselves to meals out. Hadn't seen her since my verdict, so it was lovely to catch up.
pic soon, i promise.

i cut it short
Got up this morning and cut hair short in readiness for Iain coming round to shave head!
It's a bit hacked so I'll wear a hat - going out after lunch to hospital - to see the doctor who first told me I had cancer.
My friend Sue is driving my car - partly cos I'm feeling wobbly - day after chemo and so she can get used to it - we're sharing driving to Exeter next week and she wants to get used to my car.
When I first was told I had cancer of the oesophagus, I didn't think the worst. When I was told it had spread to lungs and lymph glands it began to dawn on me it might be serious. The doc gave me the news when I asked for it and it didn't sound too good. However, I decided to try chemo and the first burst of it, 17 December, made me feel better after the initial exhaustion. In fact I woke up one New Years Eve feeling human, lively and relieved. That was before I saw creepy crawly insects on the pure white towels in the hotel I was staying at, in Exeter. But I felt so good that I found it hard to believe I had terminal cancer.

Hair off!?
First a big thank you for Judy for encouraging me to keep a diary and when I moaned suggested a blog!
My life is rollercoaster at the moment and I am, after all, a writer, so, here goes.
I'll fill in the backstory later but m hair is coming out from chemo! My hair is one of my better features (along with big blue expressive eyes, large curvacious breasts and brains). It's longish, luxuriant, wavy. Alas no more. Time (tomorrow) for Iain to come round and shave it off with izzy wizzy let's get busy clippers. The trouble is I have lice eggs in it. I got out all the actual insects, but not the eggs. Combing my hair with the nitty Nora comb thing was working - eggs were coming out, but then clumps of hair started coming out instead. I know there are a few eggs still lurking.
So, my plan is to wash and cut it short with scissors, give it a good going over and then when he gets here, fess up. The clippers will need to be boiled, disenfected and generally rendered harmless for the next use. Iain is such a drling I'm sure he'll be 100% cool, but, I wish I'd got em all out first!
Will catch up on back story and let you know how shave goes asap!
